How long can we get back the investment for making background wall by UV flatbed printer?

The below data is from a real Chinese individual business workshop.

1. Total cost

The total cost including Equipment, consuming materials and labor.

1.1 Equipment

• UV flatbed printer: One unit, price US$26800, serve for more than 8 years;
• CNC engraver: One unit, price US$6200, serve for more than 8 years;
• Control and picture design computer (PC): One unit, price US$750.
• Total cost of equipment: US$33,750.

1.2 Consuming materials

1.2.1 UV ink: price US$60.00/Litre, 1 litre UV ink can be printed with 80-100 square meter of materials, thus the printing cost for one square meter is around US$0.75.

1.2.2 Coating ink: price US$40.00/Litre (It might be cheaper from your local market), 1 litre coating ink can be coated with 25-30 square meter of materials, thus the coating cost for one square meter is around US$1.6.

1.2.3 Total cost of consuming material is US$2.35/sqm.

1.3 Labor cost

By using UV flatbed printer, the labor will be cut down to 1-2 compare to traditional printing process. 

The Chinese labor price (Calculate the labor cost according to your local price) is around US$890/month, 2 people will take US$1,780/month.

2. Profit

The price of ceramic tile background wall in Chinese market is US$65-125/sqm, different kind of ceramic tiles usually with different price. The following calculation is based on the price of background wall with fully glazed ceramic + finely engraved. Its price is around US$110/sqm. 

2.1 Production ability: The UV flatbed printer can print 6-8 sets of ceramic tile background wall per a day, one set of ceramic tile background wall is around 8sqm. 

2.2 Thus, the incomming of one day work is US$5280 = $110 x 8sqm x 6sets; Day consuming material cost is US$112.8 = $2.35 x 8sqm x 6sets; Day labor cost is US$89; Day tiles cost US$720 (The price of fully glazed ceramic tile is US$15/sqm in China market); Other cost is around US$10/day including water and electricity cost.

2.3 Day profit: US$4348.2 = 5280 – 720 - 112.8 – 89.0 – 10.0 (20 working days for a month, the monthly incomming is around US$86,964). 

Definitely, the investment of equipment will be back in 20 working days (one month). It is really a very high incomming business for both an individual workshop and company.
